RTÉ Radio one Extra tuning information
Monday 28th April 2008
There has been a number of people say that they can not tune to RTE Radio 1 extra during times of it being present on the DAB service.
RTE Radio 1 Extra is a sub channel of RTE Radio 1 which is not present all the time on the DAB service. This is to conserve precious bandwidth. When RTE radio 1 Extra is switched off you are returned to RTE Radio 1 without having to do anything.

On the DAB ensemble it is not a channel in its own right but it is a child channel of Radio 1.
When you are listening to RTE Radio 1 on DAB and Radio one Extra is switched on all receivers will show a little chevron next to the channel name that states that there is now a sub channel attached to what you are currently listening to.
Most receivers happily take this and all you have to do to tune to Radio 1 Extra is simply tune to it as you would any other service on your DAB radio.
There are however some receivers that see the change and show the chevrons but when you go to tune to it the service is not there.
To tune to Radio 1 Extra on such receivers you simply hold the select button for 2 seconds and the receiver will tune to the sub-channel.
